Castle Keep
The Castle, Newcastle is a medieval fortification in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, built on the site of the fortress which gave the City of Newcastle its name. The most prominent remaining structures on the site are the Castle Keep, the castle's main fortified stone tower, and the Black Gate, its fortified gatehouse.
The Keep is reputedly haunted by a number of apparitions. These include a young girl who is believed to have been 17th century flower seller. The sobs and screams heard have been attributed to her as well as the fragrance of flowers. Visual phenomena include a white light in the Mezzanine Chapel and a tall male wearing a cloak and top hat who walks the Great Hall. Chanting has been heard eminating from the chapel.
